The Rundown: The offspring of two agents tells his story.
In the aftermath of Sigurd and Eva’s revelation to the Order, their child Caspar is taken from them and given to others in the organization to raise before he is brought back to become part of the Order itself.
It doesn’t take long before Caspar develops into a young man who catches the interest of the Order and his parents who must find a way to spend time with him as trainers without being parents to him. Something that could shape his reaction to getting some devastating news about them.
The Story: Tom Taylor crafts some interesting and dynamic characters in this series and this issue especially. The first issue was full of action and thrills and this one slows down to give us a sense of the characters themselves. A good move on Taylor’s part because it gives a wider context to the world and a scope that gives the reader someone to root for in Caspar. His journey is an interesting one and Taylor manages to give the character personality and a charm that makes me want to continue reading his story. A great story with a beautiful twist at the end.
The Art: Daniele Di Nicuolo dazzles with art that is filled with energy and charm. The array of different and unique characters throughout Caspar’s upbringing are visually dynamic. The action is great and I love the expressiveness of Caspar himself as he tries to draw out the people around him emotionally and doesn’t give up when presented with an obstacle.
