The original series focused on a family of classic film monsters who live in modern times and are trying to live their lives and raise their children. The comedy came from the fact that the characters play it straight and its the reactions of everyone else that causes the chaos. It featured Herman Munster (Frankenstein’s Monster), his wife Lily (A Vampire), their son Eddie (A Vampire/Werewolf hybrid), Grandpa (Vampire) and Lily’s niece Marilyn (human).

The reboot would see the Munster family trying to remain true to themselves and their values while trying to fit into hipster Brooklyn.

This isn’t the first time that the Munsters has been rebooted. Pushing Daisies and Hannibal producer Bryan Fuller produced a 2012 television movie called Mockingbird Lane about the Munsters that starred Jerry O’Connell (Billions) as Herman, Portia de Rossi (Arrested Development) as Lily and Eddie Izzard as Grandpa. The TV movie premiered around Halloween, but never went to series.
