A friendly snowball fight proves to be the perfect backdrop for Malcolm and Maxine to work out their marital drama.

At the same time, a rampaging god is being hunted and hounded by Ant through the streets of Toronto. When their destruction prompts a call to Malcolm, he has to leave his sick wife and family in order to stop the increasing carnage.

Malcolm teams up with his sometime ally Ant to stop the powerful god and Dragon learns of a connection to the end of the world prophecy Ant has been ranting about for years.

Back at the Dragon home, Angel decides that it is time that the Dragon children learn who their mothers really are and the creature that traumatized Maxine returns when she’s the most vulnerable.

Erik Larsen strikes a great, dramatic balance between Malcolm’s increasingly chaotic home life and the demands of being a superhero. The dialogue is honest in reflecting the character’s frustrations at both their personal and interpersonal circumstances. What makes the issue more interesting is that there is more drama brewing both beneath the surface, especially with Angel and her desire to be a mom.

In contrast to the family drama brewing, the action and conflict is great too. Ant’s appearance adds an additional elements of drama to Malcolm’s overall story and it will interesting to see how it plays out.

Larsen has some awesome art in this issue. The fight between Ant, Dragon and Ragnok looks amazing and comes to a satisfying and beautiful ending.
