The Rundown: Robin has an encounter with Ra’s Al Ghul and later finds himself in a compromising situation. Ravager makes an unusual discovery.

Robin awakens to find himself in an unknown location near Lazarus Island where he discovers Ra’s Al Ghul. Robin then confronts his grandfather and discovers there is more to Ra’s Al Ghul than he knows. The latter goes on to teach Robin several valuable lessons. Soon, Robin returns to Lazarus Island and discovers something interesting. Finally, he finds himself surrounded by an unexpected group. Meanwhile, Ravager’s search for Robin leads her into an unexpected conflict with Respawn.

The Story: Williamson creates a compelling narrative that provides an insight into one of Batman’s most dangerous enemies. I really liked the emotional depth that Ra’s Al Ghul brings to this story. Robin’s focus on his hatred, and need to prove himself, often makes him blind to the nature of those that surround him. I think this interaction with his grandfather really humanizes him. This series is doing an amazing job with actualizing the growth of Damian Wayne’s character and I am all for it.

The Art: Corona uses detailed drawings that feature an emphasis on character expression. This is highlighted by color work featuring bold tones that change with the time of day and location. Overall, I found this visually appealing issue to be quite engaging and transportive.
