At the Danger Room Prison Complex, a new prisoner is brought in.

Warden Forge welcomes his new prisoner and tells him the conditions of his incarceration. His newest prisoner, Lucas Bishop, is introduced to the prison and is immediately whispered about. The former X-Men member is big news in the prison and you know what happens to fresh meat in prison.

Bishop has a bigger problem though. He keeps hearing a persistent laughing that no one else can and he is seeing things as well. It starts with small things like his seeing his sister Shard as a fellow prisoner and gets more intense as he starts to relive memories of a life he cannot remember. When he finds out that Lorna is having the same issues, he tries to talk to her. His finds himself clashing with several mutants in the prison including Gabby, Hank and others. His visions continue to be more intense and when he wakes the next day, he finds a note in his cell confirming what he is experiencing.

Vita Ayala has written an entertaining issue that begins some interesting plot threads that I hope to see explored. Bishop and the other mutants are in an interesting and unique position and I am enjoying how Ayala creates and lays out their experience. It’s going to be interesting to see how this story connects to the larger story and how Bishop’s memories of multiple timelines will be affected by his experience in the Age of X-Man.

German Peralta’s art is good. There are some good looking panels throughout, but nothing really pops off the page.
