In the far future, the last two mutants will confront the epitome of human evolution and learn the devastating truth about the ultimate fate of the human/mutant conflict. At the end of all things, Logan will commit one final act that will hopefully change everything and prevent the final future that he and Moira witness.

In the recent past, Charles Xavier enjoys a day out when he is joined by Moira. She has the mutant read her mind and shows him the future she sees and the two of them begin to change the course of the future. It will include some deviations and changes to both ideology and dreams, but Charles and Magneto are determined to bring forth a new future for mutantkind.

But can they succeed this time when all other attempts have failed?

The Story: I cannot stress how amazing this series is and this issue is no exception. Jonathan Hickman is fundamentally changing the guiding principals of the X-Men universe and every change and deviation speaks to the core of their struggle. Surface cynicism aside, there is so much deeply ingrained in this story of survival and evolution that you can’t help but be engaged by the story, its characters and its possibilities. I cannot wait to see where the X-Men go from here and there is a sense of freshness and renewal to the world that Hickman is creating for them.

The Art: Larraz and Silva have some stunningly beautiful art in this issue. Everything from the first brilliant page to the detailed conclusion is breathtaking to witness.
