The Rundown: A rest stop at a local restaurant leads Ivy to make an interesting decision regarding her mission.

The story opens with Ivy remembering moments from her previous romantic relationship and latest adventure. In the present, she has a meal in a restaurant known for resting travelers. There she meets Jenny, and as they talk, she enacts an interesting new plan. Soon, the police arrive, leading to the uncovering of Jenny’s secret. Afterwards, Ivy discovers something unexpected causing her to rethink her current mission.

The Story: I continue to be impressed by this ecologically themed narrative. Wilson boldly dives into topics such as veganism and global warming and frames them in a straightforward manner. I feel this is a wise choice as it clearly explains the dangers of inaction while calling out the hypocrisy of activism. On a personal level, Ivy’s inner monologue shows a character that is both conflicted in her actions and dedicated to her goal. However, the cracks in her surface level idealism began to show as an ulterior motive to her plot is slowly revealed. I am excited by this exploration of her disposition and how it will affect her later on in the story, especially as new enemies cross her path.

The Art: This issue features detailed artwork that is highlighted by bold, brilliant colors. The modern design and emphasis on facial expression and character form create an immersive and connective experience.
