Sandman is dead, but not really. After helping Sandman escape so he can die in peace, Spider-Man is confronted by his new partner J Jonah Jameson about his decision to help a known criminal. Peter has decided to be honest with his new partner and tell him what he can do with his opinions when Sandman emerges even bigger and more menacing than before.

Apparently this Sandman is from another part of the Multiverse and is using the remnants of Sandman’s dying body to find a way to enter our world. Spidey is going to have to find a new way to stop this new threat that apparently is ageless. In the heat of the battle he decides to give his friend Johnny Storm a call and ask him for a device that might help stop the rampaging Sandman, but Peter also has to find a pretty unconventional means of keeping the villain in check until that help arrives.

There were some really fun moments in this issue and I liked the dialogue between Peter and Jonah. Unfortunately, there wasn’t much else that I could hold onto as interesting or different about this issue. I liked the action and the pacing of the book, but the story just seemed a little flat in regards to engaging me as a reader or creating memorable moments that stuck with me as a reader of the series. There was a disposable quality to this issue and plot. If this were the first issue I picked up, I would be hard pressed to find something in it to make me want to pick up the next. Especially when the previous arc was so dynamic.

The art by Bachalo was great and I loved the details in both the city and the characters. I really wish the story were stronger.
