The Rundown: Val and company are betrayed and must fight to escape certain death.

Val remembers another moment that changed the course of her life as an attack on the refugee camp she and her brother were taken to causes them both to go on the run. The only thing that saved them then was a helping hand from a stranger. In the present, Val witnesses Tiberius getting ready to let Blacktop Bill in so that he can kill them all and recover the book taken from Augustus.

When Val attempts to fight back, she and the others are captured and have to find someway to escape before Bill can find them. After causing a devastating event, Val and company make for the truck, but without power and an army of Shades on their tails, their chances of survival get slimmer by the minute.

The Story: Snyder cranks up the action and thrills in this issue. There is a great pace to the story that does a brilliant job of continuing the character development and world building while keeping the action going at break neck speed. The dialogue is intense and brilliantly done with Val continuing to keep me engaged while also showcasing how important Emory and Bailey are to the story as well. A great issue from start to finish with an awesome and hopeful ending.

The Art: Tony S Daniel delivers some beautiful visuals throughout this issue. There are so many great moments from the characters to the action that standout and grab you.
