Niantic is currently developing an augmented reality game like their highly successful Pokemon Go title for fans of the world of Harry Potter.

Mobile Game developer Jam City is producing their own take on the world of Harry Potter with a new mobile game titled Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery. The company behind the mobile game Marvel Avengers Academy have set this new game in the 1980’s well before the birth of the ‘boy who lived’ and his compatriots.

With feedback from the Harry Potter fan community, Hogwarts Mystery looks to be a pleasing game for fans of the stories and the world. Hogwarts Mystery will cast the player in the role of a student at the famed Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry where he or she will advance in classes like Defense Against the Dark Arts and Potions. Updates to the game will update the game play as well while your character learns new spells to become a more powerful witch or wizard. The game will also feature iconic Harry Potter characters including Dumbledore, Snape and Hagrid.

While not much else is known about the plot of the new mobile game, the “mystery” elements will probably feature in your encounters with the teachers and staff of the school. The game will be free to play with in-app purchases that will enhance the experience.

Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery will be released next year via the Apple App Store, Google Play and Amazon Appstore.
