Well it looks like the world can expect another type of Brexit with news today that the Netflix series The Crown will be ending sooner than expected.

According to Deadline, The Crown will end after five seasons on the streaming service. Creator Peter Morgan has said that he envisioned the series going six season total, but admitted that while working on the fifth season that it “became clear…that this is the perfect time and place to stop. I’m grateful to Netflix and Sony for supporting me in this decision.”

Morgan has an overall deal with the creator, so more shows will be coming. Morgan did take the time to confirm who will be playing the Queen in the fifth and final season of the series. Actress Imelda Staunton will take on the role of Queen Elizabeth. Elizabeth was previously played by Claire Foy and is currently played by Olivia Colman. According to Morgan; “Imelda is an astonishing talent and will be a fantastic successor to Claire Foy and Olivia Colman.”

Imelda Staunton is an Academy Award nominated actor known for her roles in films like Shakespeare in Love, Sense and Sensibility, Nanny McPhee and Vera Drake. She is probably most well known for her villainous role as Professor Dolores Umbridge in the Harry Potter films.
