Deron GenerallyNetflix has released the trailer for an original film based on the rise and fall of National Lampoon.
The film, A Futile and Stupid Gesture, is based on the book by Josh Karp and it chronicles the magazine from its early days and through some of its most influential periods as it helped to change the comedy landscape in the 70’s. The film stars Will Forte (Last Man on Earth), Domhnall Gleeson (Star Wars The Last Jedi), Joel McHale (Community), Emmy Rossum (Shameless) and Seth Green (Family Guy). It is directed by David Wain (Wet Hot American Summer).
A Futile and Stupid Gesture is the story of comedy wunderkind Doug Kenney, who co-created the National Lampoon, Caddyshack, and Animal House. Kenney was at the center of the 70’s comedy counter-culture which gave birth to Saturday Night Live and a whole generation’s way of looking at the world.
A Futile and Stupid Gesture premieres on Netflix January 26, 2018.
