The Rundown: Astrid is determined to be mother of the year in her town and will do whatever it takes to make it happen.

Astrid is an aspiring social media “super mommy” who not only wants the love of her kids, but also the love of her new community and the super mommies that run it. When a series of kids in the area go missing, Astrid makes it her mission to determine who did and rescue them in full view of the public. At the same time, she deals with her suspicions about a local dentist and a young man who does something scandalous to her stepdaughter.

As Astrid continues to climb the social ladder, the other thing climbing in the gated community is the body count as Astrid brings her own brand of justice to people who harm her, the people she loves and her attempts to climb to the top of the hierarchy in her town. With a clever plan in place, Astrid will do what is necessary to both stop the wicked and put her best self forward for the cameras.

The Story: Bennett crafts a uniquely funny and engaging story that is a brilliantly entertaining critique of social media culture. It has some brilliant dark humor throughout mixed with interesting characters and commentary. I love the narration from Astrid throughout the story and how the rise in suspense and tension lead to a delightfully surprising conclusion that I loved.

The Art: Carlini delivers beautifully detailed and visually over the top art throughout the issue and I loved both the visual style and the horror elements throughout.
