In an exclusive to Deadline, Transparent creator Jill Soloway has been hired to write and direct a big screen adaptation of the heroine Red Sonja. Soloway is said to be bringing a new take to the classic character. Following the controversial hiring and subsequent firing of Bohemian Rhapsody director Bryan Singer, the studio was looking for a replacement that would be a better choice for both the character and the studio.

Soloway told Deadline; “I can’t wait to bring Red Sonja’s epic world to life,” she said. “Exploring this powerful mythology and evolving what it means to be a heroine is an artistic dream come true.”
