The Rundown: Miles discovers the clones using his identity to commit crimes, but he doesn’t have to face them alone.
Miles finds himself face to duplicate face with the clone Selim and his two other clones. After trying to determine who they are and where they came from, Selim and the others attack. Overwhelmed by sheer numbers, Miles gets an assist from Peter who swings in to help. Unfortunately, the clones get away, but Miles is more determined than ever to find them. Peter helps, but when the trail grows cold, the veteran Spider-Man has some sage advice for Miles. Advice honed from years of dealing with similar situations.
When Miles returns home, he is confronted by Ganke and they both determine that the clone is looking to do more than ruin Spider-Man’s reputation. He’s going after Miles’ personal life. After tackling some Miles Morales problems, he gets a fix on where the clones are holding up. When he infiltrates their base, he sees what they are working on. When they return, an unprepared Miles will discover there is more to the clone plan then he realized and his actions will make things even more personal.
The Story: Ahmed crafts a great story for Miles with some interesting twists and a plot that shows Miles as a flawed hero when circumstances get personal. I love that Miles is still learning and growing. It speaks to his age and experience in a way that is realistic. He’s young and will make mistakes both in judgement and execution. I like that there is a nuance to the situation that Miles isn’t aware of and how he will have to reap the consequences of his actions. A great story with some interesting stakes in the making.
The Art: Carnero delivers some beautiful art throughout the issue. Not only is the action bold and brilliant, but the characters and panels are gorgeously detailed.
