The Rundown:

The seeds of Abel’s anger begin to blossom early as his mother realizes when she has the nerve to deny him something he wants.

That anger increases as the physical manifestation of his anger lays waste to the area, injuring many and destroying everything it touches. Maggie tries to get everyone to safety before she is consumed by the force of Abel’s power. Bobby and Fox refuse to run as they try to reason with the boy to no avail.

Jeb finally steps in to stop the boy before he can hurt anyone else and in the aftermath, Abel flees to prevent any more harm. Fox follows alone and the pair soon realize that things are getting worse.

The Story:

Skottie Young ramps up the tension and action in this issue. Things are getting tougher for Abel and Young is able to showcase the fear and anxiety the boy is feeling through the dialogue. He also does a great job of illustrating the difficult position Abel’s powers put Maggie in with her commitment to the people who depend on her. Her decision is tough and signifies that she isn’t a bad person. She’s put in the position of having to make a tough decision. The drama is fantastic and I can’t wait to see what happens next.

The Art:

Jorge Corona’s art is fantastic. All of the visual elements work and the panels are filled with gorgeous action and detail.
