The Rundown: Can Abel survive a final confrontation with his father and will the world survive them both?

With Raider gone, the rest of his crew find themselves caught between the twin furies of Abel and his father on one side and Maggie and her forces on the other. Raider’s men make a strategic decision and that allows Maggie and the others to focus on helping Abel.

Unfortunately, they quickly discover that the only person who can help Abel is himself. As Abel squares off against his father and the fury of their collective anger threatens to devastate the area, a strange thing happens. Something that will determine the fate of both father and son.

The Story: Skottie Young brings this story to a dramatic, heartfelt and satisfying conclusion. Everything that has building with these characters and their struggles comes to a head and Young does an amazing job of giving them the moment to reconcile their conflict as well as talk about the cycle of violence that created it in the first place. I’ve been impressed with this series and its ideas since the beginning and this issue is the perfect conclusion to a story that, at its heart, is about the consequences of generational abuse and how family is more than just blood. A great end to this series and hopefully, the beginning of more to come for these characters.

The Art: Jorge Corona pulls out all the stops visually in this issue. The action and fury of Abel’s final struggle with his father is beautifully done from panel to panel and the resolution of the story is filled with heart and emotion.
