The Rundown: Lady Hellaine’s story will end with betrayal, renewal and a final act of mercy.

Lady Hellaine faces the fury of the Devil of Woodsburgh as Goodwill and the others can only watch in horror. With Gregor and Rory in danger, Hellaine fights to protect them as Gloria makes a deal with the creatures to save the life of her son.

An epic battle ensues with Hellaine as the victor, but the guilt over what she’s done continues to haunt her in the voice of Mercy. After returning to the town to finally enter the mine, she asks Gloria for a favor regarding Rory. As she prepares to leave, a personal betrayal will upend her plans and force her to confront the only person she thought she could trust for the life of the only innocent person in all of this.

The Story: A brilliantly beautiful conclusion from Mirka Andolfo. Not only was this issue captivating and emotional, but the plot comes together into a fantastic conclusion that is both unexpected and bittersweet. Hellaine goes on a real emotional journey and throughout and the story ends on a note that makes me excited to see what comes next.

The Art: Beyond the brilliance of the story, Andolfo delivers some powerful and beautiful art as well. The action is visceral both in the beginning and end of the issue, but it’s the character moments that truly shine through.
