The mystery behind the memory wipes is revealed as one of the Marvel Knights stands on his own.

The ghost of Karen Page has led the heroes to a building in the middle of the city as T’Challa sneaks around the interior. After finding out that Fisk has enlisted an army of super villains to guard the device responsible for wiping away the existence of heroes, Black Panther finds himself in a room with Crossbones, Taskmaster and others.

As Black Panther fights the villains, Doom realizes that the building has been compromised by the Hulk. He withdraws from the building with Fisk in tow and the two observe the action below. Unfortunately, Fisk is no longer in the mood for Doom’s insults and violently attacks the king of Latveria. I have a lot of questions about this moment, but my curiosity to see what Doom does in response is too high. I’m willing to put aside my questions about how Fisk survived a fight with Doom just to see what Doom does to Fisk.

Daredevil, Punisher and the rest of the Knights enter the building just in time to save T’Challa from the villains surrounding him. When Frank tells Panther they’ve been looking for him, he responds by violently attacking them. It turns out that T’Challa remembers everything and his attack on the assembled heroes is justified in the next page with a shocking cliffhanger ending.

There was so much to enjoy in this issue, but the end of it was just the emotional punch needed to drive home that this story is going to take twists and turns that you couldn’t imagine. I have to give it to Rosenberg and Cates for that emotional gut punch of an ending. It adds a new layer to the overall story while making the rest of the series unpredictable.

Niko Henrichon’s art is a standout in this issue. There are some beautiful details in the characters and the action scenes are amazing.
