2017’s Thor: Ragnarok was a huge hit with fans and it introduced a new version of the Marvel Comics character Valkyrie brought to life on-screen by Tessa Thompson. Now that version of the character is making her way into the pages of a new comic book series.

Last week Marvel Comics announced that writer Saladin Ahmed (Black Bolt) and artist Javier Rodriguez would be bringing back the Exiles. The series, created by Judd Winick and Mike McKone, consists of characters from different dimensions and realities coming together to use their unique skills to stop threats to the timeline and the multiverse. This new team consists of Teleporting mutant Blink, an older version of Ms. Marvel Kamala Khan, Young Avenger Iron Lad, a cartoonish version of Wolverine named Wolvie and now the last member of the team, Valkyrie.

Apparently, Marvel was a huge fan of Thompson’s take on the character in the Taika Waititi film and decided along with Ahmed that a version of the character would be perfect for the series. According to series editor Will Moss; “All of us on Team Exiles are big fans of Tessa Thompson’s Valkyrie,” he said. “So when we realized that we had the perfect series –where the roster is made up of alternate reality versions of Marvel heroes–to introduce a comic book equivalent of that version of Valkyrie, we jumped at the chance!”

Exiles from Saladin Ahmed and Javier Rodriguez will hit store shelves April 11, 2018.
