Peyton Reed is returning to direct the third film with Jeff Loveness writing the script.

The studio had no comment on the casting, but sources close to the project are saying that Majors will be playing the main villain in the film Kang the Conqueror. In the comics, Kang is a historian with a genius level intellect who uses advanced technology to travel through time to conquer different time periods. According to the Deadline story, Kang’s origins could reportedly be changed for the MCU version of the character as the original was a descendant of Fantastic Four leader Reed Richards.

Jonathan Majors is known for the role of Atticus Freeman in the HBO series Lovecraft Country based on the novel by Matt Ruff. He has starred in the films White Boy Rick and received critical acclaim for his role in The Last Black Man in San Francisco. He recently starred in Spike Lee’s Da Five Bloods on Netflix.
