The Rundown: Lois Lane is investigating something huge and she’s going to need some special help to bring it to light.

Lois’ new routine has allowed her the freedom to pursue the news stories that she feels passionately about. Fearless and determined, Lois submits her latest story to Perry and when confronted with the option to be anonymous, she puts her head directly into the lion’s mouth. When she finds out a fellow reporter has died under mysterious circumstances, she reaches out for help from someone with a knack for finding the answers to certain questions.

Her latest investigation will put her in the crosshairs of some pretty powerful men. Something her husband is not happy about, but has no interest in stopping her. Instead, he wants to know more about her time with Jor-El. She promises him that she will tell him and reminds him about what makes their relationship work before she heads to Washington to confront the White House Press Secretary on a story that will make her an even bigger target.

The Story: Greg Rucka gets straight to the point in this first issue. The political undertones are not subtle and they are handled in a way that lets the reader know exactly where Rucka stands on a topic that is being argued in the real world. The dialogue is great and Rucka does a great job of making this story about Lois. Even with Clark showing up, the story never loses focus on Lois as the lead. The mystery at the heart of the story is compelling and promises to get bigger in scale and stakes as the story continues. I am eager to see where this story goes next and how it evolves.

The Art: Mike Perkins art is fantastic. The art perfectly matches the gritty, noir style of the story and its tone.
