Can Maria break out of her latest delusion to discover the Owl King’s real plan for baby Jareth?

As adult Jareth sets up for the dance with Sarah, the goblin Beetlegum tries to find the mask he hid in baby Toby’s crib. Knowing that the mask has meaning to Jareth, the goblin begins to panic when he realizes that it’s gone.

The Owl King is putting the next stage of his plan together now that there is no longer talk of rebellion and all the rebels have been sent to the Bog of Eternal Stench. With Maria distracted in a dance with Albert, the Owl King finally banishes his son Skubbin after he serves his purpose. Skubbin decides to free the rebels and find Maria before the copy of Albert kills her.

Parallels between what is happening to Sarah in the present and Maria in the past showcase the rising tension of the story and the Owl King’s plans for Jareth are revealed to be more sinister than anyone imagined.

Everything seems to be coming to a head in this issue and the rising tension makes this issue really exciting. Spurrier and Ferrier grabbed my attention with this part of the story and I enjoy the immediacy of its pace.

Bayliss’ art complements the story perfectly and I loved the scenes that parallel between Maria and Sarah. Can’t wait to see where this story goes next.
