The Rundown: Circe has all her pawns in place to take the power she has been seeking for years.
Kent Nelson and Zatanna know how dangerous it is to try and bind the power of Eclipso, but they do so anyway in order to give Diana the chance to find answers that will help them stop Circe and her team. Unfortunately, Circe is on the other side waiting for her.
While Diana finds herself in the clutches of Circe, Detective Chimp and Khalid find themselves on the run from a rampaging Man Bat who has mutated to monstrous levels and wants to do the same to them. With Swamp Thing out of commission, it will be up to Bobo and Khalid to find a way to contain their teammate before he kills them both.
The Story: This issue of Justice League Dark is just that, dark. James Tynion IV takes each character down a path of darkness that leads directly to the events threatening the world itself in the bigger Year of the Villain arc. Tynion IV does an excellent job of dismantling these characters one by one as they slowly give into the darkness within themselves and Diana’s innate ability to see the good in others will be the greatest weapon against her. This is a great issue from start to finish and every character gets some great moments, especially Detective Chimp.
The Art: Bueno and Blanco deliver some beautiful artwork that is filled with emotion, detail and darkness. Love the way this issue looks.
