It’s a race against the forces of Malekith to protect the only person truly innocent in the War of the Realms.

Baldur has been given a quest that will take him from the action in New York to a cross country trip that proves to be equally harrowing. A quest of importance for both his mother and the future of Asgard. Baldur has pledged his sword to protect his baby sister and he has assembled a team including Kate Bishop, Miles Morales, Wonder Man and Thori.

The band of heroes are tasked with keeping the baby alive after Sindr threatens the child with the location Thor has hidden her. The race to save her takes them all over the map to recruit heroes to the cause. This misfit band of heroes takes to the streets in an attempt to stay under the radar, but being chased by Ares himself is guaranteed to blow their anonymity.

This is a fun issue and the stakes are laid out front and center. The McElroys manage to take a light tone with the dialogue while delivering a pretty thrilling story in this issue. It doesn’t have the weight that the first part of War of the Realms has, but it doesn’t have to in order to tell this part of the story.

The art by Andre Lima Araujo is great. There is a lot of detail in the panels and it matches the fun tone of this story.

It’s Balder! At least get that right! The dialogue was so bad in this issue and it was just ridiculously horrible from the beginning to the end. No question as to who the baby is? Or why Ares can be stopped by just ripping a strip out of a bridge? Or why the McElroys are even on this since they are complete hacks!?!?!?
