A disgraced member of the royal family is looking for a way to get back into the good graces of his beloved mother and a mystery man offers him something that will do so. Using her love of horses, the man guarantees that what he has will breed him a champion. Unfortunately, when there are complications with the pregnancy, the royal sends for the man who sold him the miracle, John Constantine.

To make things even weirder, Constantine has no memory of selling the man anything, but when he discovers that the mare is pregnant with a unicorn, things start to go from bad to worse for everyone involved as the creature can only be born one messy and destructive way.

The Story: I continue to be struck by how engaging and compelling these adventures are. Simon Spurrier offers the perfect mixture of magic, horror and humor throughout and each story has some great character moments and dialogue throughout. The mood and tone of the story are different from the last issue and that is what makes it feel more ethereal and compelling. I really enjoyed how this issue unfolded as well a the reveals inside. It is going to be fun to see how this story continues and what happens when John finally confronts himself.

The Art: Matias Bergara delivers some beautiful, gritty art in this issue. I loved the first person perspective of the bar scenes and how the art takes on classic film noir elements in its storytelling. This is a great looking issue that really sells the mood and tone of the story.
