The Rundown: The Storyteller has a new tale to tell about the stars in the sky.

The Storyteller is stargazing when his faithful four-legged friend arrives. After telling the Storyteller that he has no interest in the stars at all, the Storyteller begins a new tale.

The story is about an older woman who has made a promise to her family that she would be with them. Unfortunately, she sets out in the dark of night to see them and finds herself besieged on her journey by creatures of whimsy as well as dark creatures who wish to drag her into the darkness. The only thing that keeps her safe is the lamp she carries and the light it gives off, but what will she do when the light begins to fade?

The Story: A well paced, engaging and bittersweet tale. The story is very straightforward. It is about this woman’s need to fulfill a promise to her family and the determination to overcome all obstacles in her way. Ver does an excellent job of taking the reader on an interesting, dark and entertaining journey with this character and even thought the ending was predictable, the journey itself became worth the read.

The Art: All of the visuals in this issue are where Ver really shines with this story. Ver uses the art to reflect the tone of the story and refrains from making it too dark. Even thr characters that are designed to be scary to the reader have a sense of wonder to them visually.
