Slate will be taking on the role of Miss Nanny in a Disney Junior reboot of the classic animated children’s show Muppet Babies from Jim Henson Studios. In the original series, Miss Nanny watched over younger versions of iconic Muppet characters including Kermit the Frog, Fozzie, Miss Piggy, Gonzo, Rolf, Animal and Scooter. The Muppet Babies would learn and play together while using their imaginations, which sometimes included parodies of popular films including Indiana Jones and Star Wars.

In the new series, set to air on Disney Junior, Miss Nanny (Slate) will once again watch over baby versions of Kermit, Fozzie, Animal, Miss Piggy and Gonzo, but also a new baby Muppet in the form of Summer Penguin. She will also be encouraging them to use their imaginations to explore the world around them. The series will use CGI versions of the characters.

The new Muppet Babies will be executive produced by Tom Warburton (creator of Code Name: Kids Next Door) for Disney Junior and the Muppet Studios.

Jenny Slate is known for her stint as a cast member on Saturday Night Live as well as acting roles in films like Zootopia, Obvious Child, The Polka King, Gifted and Sony’s upcoming Venom movie. She was asked in an interview about taking on the character of Nanny recently and she responded; “She’s a good nanny and a caretaker for them because she nurtures what they have inside of themselves which is really sweet.” said Slate about her character.

Muppet Babies returns on Disney Junior March 2018.
