Deron GenerallySome recent comic book covers have come under scrutiny for seemingly sexualizing the appearance of the female characters on the cover. This critique is not necessarily a new phenomenon in the comic book world, but it has led Marvel comics to pull the J. Scott Campbell variant cover for Invincible Iron Man #1 due to complaints that the artwork “sexualizes” a 15 year old girl. Campbell has stated that it wasn’t his intention. October 28, 2016 - 3:41 amShe’s 15, I would prefer she be depicted with a bit more modesty. Just as most dad’s would probably prefer their real life 15 year old daughter dress more modestly.

October 28, 2016 - 3:48 amTo be honest, I would love to introduce my daughters to comics. I was never introduced to them and feel as though sometimes I missed some pretty cool things.
Unfortunately, covers like this, and the ‘sexualization’ of women and girls in comics keeps me from taking them into the local store.
We are trying to keep them young and innocent as long as we can. That is hard enough with everything that is on the internet.
So as mentioned above, this is nothing new, but I am glad that it is getting some attention.

October 28, 2016 - 4:00 amI can see how someone would be a little uncomfortable with the way she is depicted. It reminds of how the art is drawn in the new Amazing Spider-Man run and I can remember thinking it was a little much
