Iron Man #24

Marvel Comics

Written by Christopher Cantwell

Art by Angel Unzueta

Colors by Frank D’Armata

Letters by Joe Caramagna

The Rundown: Tony confronts the men keeping the Mandarin’s rings and discovers someone also has an interest in them.

Tony is surrounded and Rhodey is down as Cobalt Man has the Mandarin’s rings and other villains prepare to take Stark out for good. As Tony suits up and fights through the pain, he discovers that there is a familiar face within the Cobalt Man armor, a friendly one.

In the aftermath of his confrontation, Tony and Rhodey have a talk with the new possessor of the rings. A talk that will strain a friendship, but lead to a new understanding about what the rings can do in the right hands.

The Story: Cantwell does a good job of ending this particular arc, but to be honest, there was way too much exposition within this issue to be entertaining. It wasn’t all bad and I liked the reveal within it and what it means, but the arc was building to something and this fell flat with me.

The Art: Unzueta delivers some great art in the issue, but I wish the story allowed for the art to do more than showcase dialogue bubbles and back and forth arguments.
