The Rundown: The task force charged with monitoring the multiverse will witness the beginning of a new crisis.
In the aftermath of the re-forging of the multiverse, a task force has been established to maintain it and scan for new threats. While some of the forces including Alan Scott, Mr. Terrific, Vandal Savage and others take on a threat in New York, a ship crashes into a field carrying the nearly dead body of Thomas Wayne. Alan and his son decide to check out a former JSA site in Gotham and arrive just in time for it to be destroyed in an explosion.
At the same time, Flash continues to investigate all the worlds of the multiverse only to find himself working on his theory of how he can reach the hidden world they’ve discovered. When he finally reaches it, he discovers a crime scene and the presence of an old enemy. Back on Earth, Roy Harper finds himself the target of some powerful enemies and receives help from an unexpected source.
The Story: There is a lot going on in this issue and a lot of stories to follow. Williamson makes it work by making sure that each moment has an emotional core for the character it’s about. The Alan Scott story is compelling and the Barry Allen plot has some great tension and mystery. The Roy Harper moments are great and the Thomas Wayne appearance is a great mystery I want to see explored.
The Art: Xermanico delivers some impressive and beautiful imagery throughout the issue. The characters look great, the mood of the story is brilliantly reflected in the art and there is a great energy to the imagery.
