The Rundown: The most dangerous aspect of the Hulk might not be his rage, but Bruce Banner himself.

Hulk is locked away in a prison that he cannot escape. One that is being overseen by Bruce Banner. When Betty confronts him about how he is treating the Hulk, Bruce explodes at her and reminds her that he didn’t want the life of a hero. He wanted to be a scientist. He also fears that if he doesn’t do something about the Hulk, he will never be himself again. As he prepares to end the Hulk for good, we realize that Bruce is talking to no one and that his mental state is beginning to deteriorate.

At the same time, Doctor Strange has gathered a team of heroes including Spider-Man, the Fantastic Four and the Avengers to discuss what is happening to Bruce and how recent events might have broken him mentally. Strange explains that Banner has done something to the Hulk that he couldn’t imagine. Something that turns the Hulk into something completely different and Iron Man discovers that even his most powerful armor might not be enough to stop him. In the aftermath, Bruce makes a decision about the future of the Hulk and sends a warning to anyone who thinks about stopping him.

The Story: Cates crafts a deeply intense story in this issue. The plot is brilliantly done and both the pacing and dialogue are spot on. This is a dark story that is filled with great action and terror. Bruce is taken to some dark places and the reader is left to wonder if something has driven him there or is this who Bruce has always been. I am excited about this story and where it can go next.

The Art: Ottley delivers some beautiful imagery throughout the issue. Every page is filled with great details, exciting action and thrilling visuals.
