The Rundown: Ami and Buzz return, but the influence of the James house hasn’t disappeared.

In the aftermath of the fight with the James house, everyone thought that both the house and its hostages Ami and Buzz had been destroyed. Fortunately for Buzz, Ami saved him at the last minute and the two fled hoping to put some distance between themselves and the nightmare they escaped.

On the run for months, Ami can still feel the house calling her and their attempt to go further inland runs into a snag when they find themselves on the coast. After coming to terms with their feelings for each other, Ami will learn that escaping the James house might be harder than she imagined.

The Story: Bringing back Ami and Buzz is a great narrative choice. I knew that there story wasn’t over and I wanted to see how they would come back to the world Watters is building in this series. The story does a great job of making their return interesting and natural. Showing what happened to them in the aftermath is a great way of bringing the reader closer to the characters as they become closer to each other. It also does a great job of setting up another conflict between the James house and System Disrupt. There is some great drama on the horizon for these characters and I’m here for it.

The Art: Wijngaard delivers some beautiful art throughout this issue. Everything from the characters to the atmosphere is brilliantly detailed and perfect for the mood and tone of the story. A great looking issue that does a great job of contrasting both its lighter and darker moments.
