The Rundown: Juan is on the run and soon discovers that there is more to his powers than he knew.
After escaping from the detention center, Juan is on the run. With agents behind him, he prays that his powers don’t manifest again and that he can find somewhere safe to hide. At the same time, his mother wonders where he is as she thinks back on the decision to bring him to the country.
After evading the authorities, Juan finds himself outside a local mall where he has to find a way to get in contact with the only other person who knows he’s in the country; his aunt. After getting in touch with her it becomes a waiting to game to see who will find him first, the police or his aunt. At the same time, Mercedez receives some devastating news that will change everything about their circumstances.
The Story: Anta continues to craft a story that is both politically and emotionally charged in the best ways. Juan’s story is incredibly compelling and his circumstances as well. The revelations in the story also add a unique and intriguing level to the story that has me invested in its characters and outcome. The plot and dialogue are thoroughly engaging and I am interested in seeing where the story goes next.
The Art: Anna Wieszczyk does a brilliant job with the art in this issue. There are so many great visual moments, but the most impressive are the emotional ones between characters. A great looking issue.
