What started as a simple mission to take down a group of anti-mutant arms dealers quickly turns worse when Alex Summers goes way too far in stopping the violent humans. Unfortunately, his is not the only act that will get the attention of the Quiet Council and force the mutant leadership to contend with a problem they’ve up until now avoided.

Bringing in the most violent and sadistic members of their new society together into the Council chambers, the mutant leadership must decide how they will contend with mutants like Wild Child, Scalphunter, Empath and more. Sinister decides to chime in with a perfectly reasonable solution. One that will give these violent mutants the opportunity to exercise their personal demons and give him access to his own strike team. Unfortunately for Sinister, Cyclops insists that Psylocke act as field leader to keep an eye on the team and its new leader.

The Story: Zeb Wells crafts an intriguing response to one of the most pressing questions readers have had about the new run of X-Books and some of the characters that have been chosen to both join new mutant teams as well as assume positions of leadership. In this issue, Wells gives the reader a new team comprised by characters that are multifaceted as well as controversial and layers the story with the added drama of having Sinister be their leader. The Havok storyline adds something interesting as well, but it isn’t bearly as compelling as some of these other characters.

The Art: Stephen Segovia delivers some impressive art in this first issue. The action is visceral and dynamic and the characters are expressive and beautifully detailed. A great looking book.
