Harley feels like she’s getting closer to discovering who killed her friend, but she will need Booster Gold’s help to dig up clues from Baby Face. Booster is reluctant to help, but Harley employs some interesting therapeutic techniques to get him on board. After their initial plan goes south, Harley is confronted by Alicia’s daughter about the consequences of Harley’s interference.

Unwilling to give up, Harley and Booster head to a new location where they discover an even deeper conspiracy that will require some big league backup. Unwilling to call in the cavalry, Harley will be confronted by the usually lighthearted Booster about the real danger they are facing and Harley will make some uncomfortable discoveries about her investigation and herself.

The Story: Sam Humphries not only keeps the story moving and the tone consistent with the character, but he also takes the time to put Harley’s reckless behavior into emotional context. Having the characters close to her see what she’s struggling with and how she’s handling it adds an extra layer to the story that makes it engaging as a reader. The dynamic between Harley and Booster is cute and their banter is entertaining, especially in one scene that had me laughing out loud.

The Art: Abel has a beautiful style and that style is manifested in the art of this issue. Not only do the characters look great, but the cartoon-esque visuals enhance the story and the emotional undertones brilliantly.
