Harley’s going to get another offer that is wildly out of her wheelhouse and this time, it’s going to put her in the crosshairs of the Dark Knight.

Harley Quinn is sitting on the roof of her building when (of course) a Tamaranian representative of the Lords of Chaos and Order has descended to earth to offer Harley the opportunity to be a superpowered demigod with a mandate to enact retribution.

With her mother fighting cancer and her personal and professional life on a downward spiral, Harley jumps at the chance to be an intergalactic badass with no training or qualifications.

The only thing she has to do is survivive the trials.

While Harley takes her first steps into an uncertain future, a murder in Gotham with direct links to Harley is going to prompt Batman to travel to Coney Island to confront Harley about her connection to the crime. In the midst of their back and forth, we get to finally see what Batman thinks of the now reformed Harley Quinn. It’s a gut punch that shouldn’t have been that surprising considering the history the two of them share, but it is good to see it play out.

This is a really fun issue and Humphries does a great job of juggling the increasingly complex world of the character. I like seeing Harley dealing with the reality of her mother’s diagnosis as well as her past with Batman. It gives her character some additional depth and allows for her past to be dealt with beyond just words.

The art in this issue is great. John Timms has some beautifully detailed visual in this issue that really caught my eye.
