The Rundown: Hugo Strange continues his deadly experiments while Harley Quinn looks for a way to help her friends.
Harley seeks advice and emotional comfort from an old friend. She then decides on a way to liberate the clowns and battle against a dangerous foe. Meanwhile, Strange psychologically compromises Kevin. Later, Harley’s rescue attempt is met with an unexpected challenge.
The Story: There are so many good things about this issue. I like delving into the psyche of Harley Quinn. Her worries and fears are shown in as manic a style as her confidence. And her therapeutic way of working through them both are interesting to watch. Seeing her moods juxtaposed with the stern, mad logic of Hugo Strange is extremely fascinating. I look forward to watching more of their interactions.
The Art: Rossmo and Plascencia use a combination of detailed drawings and stunning colors to create the world of Harley Quinn. I really like the way the color palate changes depending on perspective and setting. This is an eye-catching issue that is completely engaging.
