The Rundown: The Universal Church of Truth, lead by Peter’s father, has hatched their new messiah and Kid Magus tells a disturbing story about what happened to him after Gamora.

After Gamora dropped off Kid Magus on a planet populated by former Church members dedicated to fixing the evil they caused, they turned on the young boy causing him to manifest the powers they hoped to prevent. When Rocket, Groot and MoonDragon arrive to recruit him, the others are apprehensive, but Rocket is on board to teach the Church a brutal lesson with the time he has left.

At the Church ship itself, Peter tries to appeal to his old friend Drax and finds that he is not the Drax he remembers and he is not alone. An army of Drax clones are ready to invade, but a surprise attack might be the only thing to stop the Church for good.

The Story: Donny Cates moves the story forward with great action moments and tension. The Rocket scenes are great, the Magus scenes are awesome and the conclusion is well done. I liked the pace of this issue and the twists and turns the plot takes. It can be a little slow at times, but when it picks up, it is entertaining to read.

The Art: Cory Smith’s art is fantastic. The art in this issue is stronger than a lot of the story and I love the look of this issue a lot.
