Greg Berlanti, the powerhouse producer behind CW series like Arrow, The Flash and Black Lightning is developing another DC Comics hero for the small screen.

According to Deadline, Greg Berlanti and Caroline Dries from The Vampire Diaries are looking to bring a Batwoman series to the network. Dries will write the series and the article gives a brief description of the plot of the series.

Armed with a passion for social justice and a flair for speaking her mind, Kate Kane soars onto the streets of Gotham as Batwoman, an out lesbian and highly trained street fighter primed to snuff out the failing city’s criminal resurgence. But don’t call her a hero yet. In a city desperate for a savior, Kate must overcome her own demons before embracing the call to be Gotham’s symbol of hope.

Batwoman is already set to make her live action debut in this year’s CW DC Comics crossover event so casting for the character is already underway. The crossover event is scheduled for December.

Batwoman comes from Berlanti Productions in association with Warner Bros. Television and Dries will produce alongside Berlanti and Sarah Schechter as well as former DC Entertainment president Geoff Johns (The Flash) via his new Mad Ghost Productions banner.
