Mega-Man-7-SNES

Another classic and beloved video game franchise is about to be brought to the big screen from 20th Century Fox.

It was announced that Fox is looking to produce a feature film based on the video game series Mega Man. Former Heroes star Masi Oka and Chernin Entertainment are producing the project for Fox and they are looking at some unusual choices in director.

The Hollywood Reporter had the exclusive that Ariel Shulman and Henry Joost would be directing the Mega Man film. If those two names sound familiar is it because they are the co-directors of the 2010 documentary film Catfish which was eventually turned into a television series for MTV. The pair also directed Paranormal Activity 3 and Paranormal Activity 4. The duo’s last film was the 2016 drama Nerve starring Emma Roberts and Dave Franco.

Mega Man would probably be their biggest budget film to date in terms of both story and special effects. Mega Man was first released in 1987 and told the story of two scientists Dr. Light and Dr. Wily. Dr. Wily programmed and released a series of robots to take over the world and Dr. Light’s robotic assistant Mega Man goes to different locations to stop the rogue bots.

The film is still in the pre-production stage and I will post additional news as it comes in. Let me know what you think in the comments below.
