The Rundown: Wally West will have to make the ultimate act of penance to save the multiverse.

Wally West is the happiest he’s been in a long time. After finding his lost children on a planet in the dark multiverse, Wally is willing to do whatever it takes to keep them safe. As Tempus Fuginaut watches on, he knows that Wally’s time is limited and that the multiverse hangs in the balance.

Spending a day with his children is the one thing Wally wishes for and with that fulfilled, Wally must make penance for the death he brought to his fellow heroes and that will require him to surrender to the Morbius Chair. An act that will sever him from time, space and his own memory. As his children sleep, Wally has Tempus make him a promise before stepping into what will be a new reality for the hero.

The Story: I’ve gone back and forth on this series, but Lobdell does an excellent job bringing this story to a close. The story is infused with sweetness and purpose and those things make for an issue that is hopeful for the future, but opens the door for new and interesting stories to come. A well done conclusion that doesn’t take the easy road when dealing with its subject matter.

The Art: Brett Booth is a master at giving every panel a sense of energy and beauty in its details. Not only do the characters look great, but the world around them is filled with beauty and energy.
