The Falcons and The Patriots weren’t the only excitement last night.. Obviously. Marvel released a brand new Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 trailer with new footage and our first look at the movie’s big bad, Ayesha.

The trailer opens up with our first look into the throne room of Ayesha, played by Elizabeth Debicki. As far as we know, Ayesha is the leader to what she considers a genetically perfect race and although we aren’t quite sure of her motive for opposition against the Guardians, we know our Guardians are far from perfect which should make for an interesting dynamic. Ayesha, or Paragon or Her as she’s known in the comics, is also a potential precursor to Him who is later and more commonly known as Adam Warlock, a wielder and possesor of the soul gem as well as a big player in the comic book event, Infinity War.

The trailer is filled with great moments from Groot welcoming Yondu to the team with a touch of sass, Gamora showing us Rocket isn’t the only one that gets to play with the big guns, and our first look at the new Guardians of the Galaxy team together..right before Mantis is clobbered with some sort of debris and Drax “tries to help” making for a great comedic moment in the trailer.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 hits theaters May 5th, 2017 and I can honestly say that I am not near as excited for any other movie as much as I am to see my team of misfits back together again!
