The Rundown: The cats discover a new world of strange shut-ins with their own set of rules.

The cats have found their way into the abandoned Pet City and are surrounded by cats who seem to have spent their entire lives within the walls of the pet supply store. Lives that have created a new society based around purpose and a leader known as Mother Helena. With the cats noticing something similar with these cats to the ones at the Lady’s home, Elsie and the others reluctantly decide to stay while Lucky spends some time with Gigi.

When dinner time comes around, the cats notice there is something strange about the meal they’ve been given while other cats leer at the kittens among them. When Lord breaks one of the rules, he and Lucky become subject to punishment by the community under the watch of Mother Helena.

The Story: Fleecs continues to craft a dark, engaging thriller in this issue. I love how the story reminds me of elements of Dawn of the Dead while also showing a new, darker mystery with potential to be even deadlier. Beyond the horror elements of the infected animals, I love how Fleecs showcases the danger of societies developing in isolation, specifically cults. I love the interpersonal conflicts between the characters and how those conflicts are teasing bigger conflicts to come.

The Art: Forstner and Rodriguez craft some beautifully detailed art throughout the issue. I love the character designs and the contrast between the characters we’re following and the new ones presented in the issue.
