Netflix and Dreamworks Animation released a statement today where they talked about the latest series to be a part of their deal for kid and family entertainment.

The new series coming to the streaming service will be based on the highly popular Fast and the Furious series of live action films. This new animated series Fast & Furious will feature a new character linked to the characters in the films. According to the release:

Teenager Tony Toretto follows in the footsteps of his cousin Dom when he and his friends are recruited by a government agency to infiltrate an elite racing league serving as a front for a nefarious crime organization bent on world domination. Tim Hedrick (DreamWorks Voltron Legendary Defender) and Bret Haaland (All Hail King Julien) will serve as executive producers and showrunners. The series is also executive produced by Vin Diesel, Neal Moritz and Chris Morgan who also serve as producers on the live-action Fast & Furious franchise.

Fast and Furious will join the other 14 original animates series on the service which include Trollhunters from Guillermo Del Toro and All Hail King Julien. The Fast and the Furious franchise has scored more the $5 billion dollars worldwide and the next two films in the franchise are set to release in 2020 and 2021.
