The horror magazine Fangoria has acquired its first screenplay to produce.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Fangoria will produce a female focused retelling of Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein story called After Birth. According to THR, the plot of After Birth; “follows a morgue technician who successfully reanimates the body of a little girl, but to keep the child breathing, she will need to harvest biological materials from pregnant women. When the girl’s mother, a nurse, discovers her baby alive, the two women enter into a deal that forces them both down a dark path of no return.”

Laura Moss and Brendon O’Brien wrote the screenplay for After Birth and Moss will helm the project in her feature film debut as a director.

Mali Elfman will produce After Birth, along with Dallas Sonnier and Amanda Presmyk for Fangoria and Cinestate. Phil Nobile Jr. and Clay Neigher of Fangoria will executive produce.
