The Rundown: The fight against the forces of Morgan Le Fay will take some interesting turns and an old friend returns to the team.

As the exodus of mutants from several countries to Krakoa continues, there are still mutants reluctant to enter the mutant country, including Rictor. Unable to control his powers, Rictor is hiding away as his fellow mutants make their way out to the new paradise.

Back at Excalibur’s new base, Apocalypse continues his experiments in mutant magic. Needing a mutant with power over the Earth itself, En Sabah Nur seeks out Rictor and brings him to the island with the promise that he can help him control his powers. As Rictor steps out, he finds himself confronted by a former member of Excalibur.

At the same time, the fight in Otherworld takes new twists as Shogo, in the form of a dragon, takes his mother and the others to Camelot in an attempt to free Captain Britain. The battle between Brian and Betsy does not go as planned and the team is forced to flee and come up with a new plan.

The Story: This is an action-packed and very fun issue. Even with the heavy story and the angst from characters like Rictor and Gambit, there is a lighter tone to this issue that plays up the adventure and fantasy aspects in a way that makes it engaging to the reader. I like the tension between Gambit and the rest of the team and his dialogue is some of the best in the story. The side story with Rictor is equally as compelling and there are so many interesting aspects to it that I was glad Tini Howard was able to strike a balance with both stories that kept me interested without giving too much away.

The Art: Marcus To puts the icing on the cake with some truly beautiful art. Between the characters and the highly detailed battle scenes, I found myself marveling at the rich and fluid energy of the art.
