The streaming service EPIX has found two of the main leads for its upcoming series based on the exploits of Batman’s butler Alfred Pennyworth.

According to dual reports in Deadline, EPIX and Warner Brothers Television have tapped Jack Bannon to take on the title role in the DC Comics series about former SAS soldier Alfred Pennyworth who forms his own security company with partner and billionaire Thomas Wayne. According to the Deadline piece, Alfred is “a boyishly handsome, cheerful, charming, clever young man from London. Honest, open-faced and witty; you’d never take him for an SAS killer. Alfred doesn’t know how to reconcile the kind-hearted boy he used to be with the cold, calculated killer he was forced to become. He’s a man on the make, who doesn’t know what to make of himself yet.”

Bannon is known for his roles in films like The Imitation Game as well as series like Ripper and The Loch.

Playing the doomed father of the superhero known as Batman will be Ben Aldridge as Thomas Wayne. Thomas is described as “a young, fresh-faced billionaire hailing from the East Coast of the United States. Confident and extremely disciplined, this young aristocrat meets an unlikely business partner in Alfred Pennyworth.”

Aldridge has appeared in the television series Fleabag as well as the film Paris Song.

Pennyworth will be executive produced by Gotham showrunner Bruno Heller as well as Danny Cannon.
