The Rundown: With the restoration of his hands, Doctor Stephen Strange will find navigating the worlds of medicine and magic to be more difficult than he imagined.

Stephen Strange has a new lease on life. After getting back the use of his hands, Strange has returned to being a surgeon while also balancing his life as the Sorcerer Supreme. Between dealing with hospital administration and seeing the demons and magical creatures that haunt the living as well as the dead, Stephen has a lot to deal with.

When an emergency trauma loads the ER with victims, Stephen finds himself treating the victims of an accidental building collapse. When he gets a moment, he travels to the wreckage and discovers that it wasn’t an accident at all. Wrecker himself has caused the collapse and with an enchanted weapon that could possibly rival Stephen’s own powers.

The Story: An entertaining first issue that takes a look back at the legacy of the character while crafting a new present for him that adds more dimension and drama to his life. Mark Waid does a great job of giving Stephen a worthwhile drama to live in while also keeping the consequences of the use of his hands hanging over him as he attempts to balance his existence. The struggle is engaging enough, but also adding in the fact that Wrecker is running around with an enchanted tool that can hurt Strange adds a new aspect to the story that I want to see explored.

The Art: Kev Walker has some beautiful visuals throughout this issue. The action looks great and Walker brings some awesome scale to many of the scenes, especially when Strange investigates the building collapse. That page and those panels are composed beautifully.
