Disney continues on its mission to lock down the voice casts for their next round of live action remakes of their classic animated films. With the recent announcement that the studio has found the leads for its live-action Aladdin, attention has turned back to the John Favreau (The Jungle Book) helmed CGI adaptation of the 1994 film The Lion King.

Chiwetel Ejiofor

Multiple sources are reporting that Doctor Strange and 12 Years a Slave star Chiwetel Ejiofor is in talks to take on the role of the villain Scar in the film. Scar is the villainous brother of Mufasa and Uncle to Simba originally voiced by Jeremy Irons.

If confirmed, Ejiofor would join the returning James Earl Jones as Mufasa, Donald Glover as Simba, Billy Eichner as Timon, Seth Rogen as Pumbaa and John Oliver as Zazu.

The Lion King is currently in production in Los Angeles.
